Introduction to the intersection of sports, business, and society.
UPPER DIVISION
Sports Marketing
Essentials of effective sports marketing. Includes
introduction to research, segmentation, product development, pricing,
licensing, and communication channels, such as advertising, sales
promotion, and publicity.
Licensing
Advanced consideration of marketing licensed products and apparel, including
contractual relations, product development, channels of distribution, and promotion.
Sports Sponsorship
Detailed consideration of the relation between sports and corporate sponsorship
programs. Focuses on alignment marketing, sponsor value, and sponsorship evaluation.
Sports Marketing Communication
Publicity, public relations, advertising, use of celebrities, sales promotion,
sales force involvement. Economic and public policy issues.
Law and Sports Marketing
Law and sports marketing, including contracts, legal aspects of licensing, relations
with agents, intellectual properties law. Public policy issues.
