Guests
Disability Services
If you or your guests have special needs that require accommodations-please contact the Undergraduate
Advising Office in 145 Lillis or by phone at 346-3303 no later than April 30th. Disability access to
Mac Court is available through Gate 6 off of University St.
Taking care of Guests
It's likely to be hot, and guests may need to wait outside of Mac Court until we are able to clear the
facility of the main UO ceremony participants. We then must clean up the arena before opening the doors
for our ceremony. Those who arrive early, will likely be waiting in the sun. Encourage sunscreen, and
provide them with bottled water. Please notify your guests that there will be plenty of seating, so
there really isn't any need to arrive early. **We will begin seating guests with special needs at 2:20.
Open seating will begin at 2:30.
Parking
Parking will be extremely limited. We encourage you to plan ahead. If possible, park on the west side
(bookstore side) of campus and walk through campus to Mac Court. Parking will likely be more plentiful
on the west side & (campus is beautiful on commencement day -- small ceremonies are taking place across
campus, the flowers are in bloom, and the chimes play music -- including the fight song, a great day for a
walk!). If you have elderly guests or others who may find a long walk a bit too much, arrange to have
them dropped off in front of Mac Court on University St. Be sure to visit the
main commencement site for traffic advisories -- vehicle access to University St. is likely to be limited.
Applying to Graduate on DuckWeb
You must apply to graduate on DuckWeb. Be sure to apply for the term in which you will
actually finish your degree. Only indicate spring as your graduation term if you will actually
finish your program in the spring. Indicating spring will result in your being classified
as a Community Education Student beginning summer 2008. This makes it impossible for
you to register for upper division business courses and limits you to just 8 credits. Be sure
to list a mailing address where we can send your diploma 10-12 weeks following commencement.
Professional Photography
Want the perfect picture of your special day? Wally Kempe Photography, UO's official commencement
photographer, will be on hand to photograph each graduate as they receive their diploma. Pictures will
be available for purchase beginning at $7.95 for a 5x7. Pictures may be viewed online at www.gradphoto.com
within 48 hours of the ceremony, (enter UOFO as your password). Any questions regarding graduation photos can
be directed to info@gradphoto.com or by calling the Grad Photo Processing Center at 1-800-211-0434.
Personal Photography
To avoid blocking the narrow processional or restricting views for all audience members, please plan to
photograph before or directly after the ceremony. In addition, there are numerous beautiful sites throughout
campus, and near Lillis to obtain great graduation photos. We encourage you to consider taking your guests
around campus to snap some photos. (Please note: due to fire marshal restrictions, guests are not permitted on
the main floor during the ceremony to take pictures. Please be sure that your guests are aware of this policy.)
Caps/Gowns/Announcements
The UO Bookstore will be holding a grad fair Monday April 7th– Thursday April 10th from 10am to 4pm (7pm on Wednesday)
in the bookstore lobby. Stop by and find everything you need to graduate! Purchase grad packages, commencement
photos, announcements and class rings. There will also be representatives from the Alumni Association, student
loan consolidations and more to speak with students. Announcements and regalia, including honors cords for students
graduating with honors, are available at the information center on the main floor of the UO Bookstore.
After the Ceremony...
Meeting Guests
Prior to the ceremony, be sure everyone in your party knows where you will meet following the ceremony.
We recommend you meet your guests on the lawn on the corner of 15th and University or at a designated
location near Lillis. This will reduce congestion and confusion just outside of Mac Court. Commencement
staff will be available to direct guests to Lillis. Do NOT plan to meet your guests near the Mac Court
entrances or exits-- crowd control staff will require you (and your guests) to keep these areas clear.
Exiting Graduation
Following the ceremony, graduates will exit on the Hayward Field side of Mac Court and be led down to the lawn
on the corner of 15th and University. Guests will exit using University St.
