Venture: D & L Wood Sales
Team Members: John Eld and Kyle Evenson
Venture Description: D & L Wood Sales is a company that believes in quality. We are a company that provides firewood bundles to those people who are just looking at getting away for a weekend and have a good time around a campfire.

Venture: FitMotiv
Team Members: Christian Okerman and Colin Gilbert
Venture Description: FitMotiv aspires to be the potential main provider and developer of corporate and residential fitness center needs. Our sales team works with customers to develop a fitness center in or near the place of business or dwelling. Our commitment to service and professional consultation is what differentiates us from the compeition.

Venture: Gemini Windows
Team Members: Tyler Miller, Andy Stephens, and Sasha Sprauer
Venture Description: Gemini Windows will combine state of the art energy efficient design techniques with modern aesthetics. The combination of these features will result in a window which is attractive, easy to install and maintain, reliable, and most importantly, energy efficient.

Venture: GolfingMyWay
Team Members: Jake Horton, Scott Rasmussen, and John Robinson
Venture Description: GolfingMyWay is a start-up company formed to provide online services that gives golfers the ability to expand their games beyond the course. Whether it is congratulating a friend for a low score, finding tools to repair their game, or making that perfect shot last longer. GolfingMyWay provides lovers of the game a means to improve their golf skills and increase their enjoyment of the game.

Venture: Good Greens
Team Members: Bradyn Wolf and Shimeon Greenwood
Venture Description: Good Greens is a restaurant concept serving premium salads composed of organic and/or local ingredients. The restaurant is ideally located in the Portland Pearl District, serving fresh, healthy entree salads for lunch and dinner. Our market is the Portland professional with a love for Northwest culture and local cuisine.

Venture: My Vote
Team Members: Caitlin Loos and Elijah Sechrist
Venture Description: My Vote (Motiviating Youth Voters of Oregon Through Education) aims to help young voters become more competent, confident, and independent in making voting decisions. A student committee will plan My Vote's annual half-day school event consisting of educational workshops, guest speakers and resources to help students learn the voting process.

Venture: Sport Video Screensavers
Team Members: Brian Siefkes
Venture Description: Sport Video Screensavers (SVS) is dedicated to offering premier computer entertainment with sport video highlights used for screensavers. It offers a variety of sport packages that highlights great performances by selected teams.

Venture: Spreadable Sounds
Team Members: Bryan Davidson, Malia Wolfe, and Ashley Rees
Venture Description: Spreadable Sounds is an establishment that focuses on the convergence of music and community. Personal listening spaces adorn this modern bar/bistro atmosphere. In these listening spaces customers will enjoy the microbrew from their favorite local brewery, and be able to purchase and listen to their favorite songs through our digital music purchasing program. Spreadable Sounds will be a pioneer in bringing people together with technology, not isolating them.

 

The Judges

Chad Barczak has two decades of experience in creating and managing businesses and holds a Bachelor’s degree in business and an M.B.A., both from the University of Oregon. Currently, Mr. Barczak is the Chairman and CEO for IDX, Inc. IDX, Inc. is a web based software provider for real estate professionals worldwide. The IDX suite of web-based applications allow real estate professionals to easily manage and maintain Multiple Listing Service (MLS) data online. Throughout his career Mr. Barczak has owned and managed multiple businesses ranging from technology and real estate to clothing production and business consulting.

David Brabender is an attorney and a founding shareholder of Endeavor Law Group, a business law firm in Eugene, Oregon. David’s practice focuses primarily on the representation of start-up and emerging growth companies, including businesses in the technology, bioscience, software and alternative energy sectors. He advises clients in the areas of capital formation (including angel and venture capital investment), corporate governance, executive compensation, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, licensing and technology transfer.

Terry Gent is executive vice-president and regional commercial lending manager for Umpqua Bank. He is a 24 year veteran in banking. His career in lending has encompassed all phases from trainee to senior management. He is very active in the community, particularly with youth programs, and has served on numerous boards and finance committees.

Nathan Lillegard is the president of FloraGenex, an early stage plant biosciences company based in Eugene. FloraGenex was a participant in the 2005 Venture Quest competition. Following a successful season on the  business plan competition circuit, Nathan launched FloraGenex in June of 2006. FloraGenex is currently seeking seed round funding, has obtained a license from the UO to its core technology, and has one employee actively engaged in providing services to customers. Nathan received his M.B.A. from Oregon in 2006.

Sabrina Parsons, currently Director of Marketing Communications for Palo Alto Software, was previously co-founder and co-owner of an entrepreneurial business that eventually became Palo Alto Software in the UK. That company was founded in London in 2001 and was purchased by the parent company in 2002. Currently she focuses on media relations and developing strategic partnerships at Palo Alto Software. She previously was founder and co-director of a successful internet consulting company based in the Silicon Valley, with a focus on advertising, marketing, and business development. She had been Senior Partner Manager at Epinions.com, Director of Online Marketing at Commtouch Solutions, and Marketing Manager at Encommerce, all of which were absorbed into public companies. She has a BA from Princeton in 1996.

Robert Sanders, is the Marketing and Design Manager for GloryBee Foods in Eugene, Oregon. GloryBee Foods started in the family garage of Dick and Pat Turanski in 1975 with a dream of providing natural, healthy products for the people of their town.  31 years later, GloryBee is still family owned and operated in Eugene with 100 employees, 3000 products and international distribution. Rob was hired in 2005 to establish the first in-house Marketing department for GloryBee, building a team to handle all creative work as well as advertising, PR and product development in house.
Rob graduated in 2001 with a BS in Business from Oregon, concentrating in Entrepreneurship and Finance with a minor in Computer and Information Science.  During his collegiate career Rob raced for Oregon Cycling, consulted with Eugene-area entrepreneurs on behalf of the LCE, and interned with Intel Corporation—the first from the Lundquist College of Business.  After graduating Rob worked as Marketing Manager for a small technology firm before finding his home at GloryBee.
