*-MASTER OF ACCOUNTING PROGRAM ONLY!!

Mastery
Today's executives want professional accountants who can step into a myriad of roles in complex, dynamic, and increasingly global companies. They want accountants who understand business principles as well as have superior fact-finding and problem solving skills. They want accountants who understand and use the latest information technology. And they want accountants who can communicate with colleagues, management teams, and shareholders.

Designed by masterminds
The University of Oregon's Master of Accounting program is perfectly tailored to fit the business community of the 21st Century. The UO course of study is the only Master of Accounting program in the state. Our accounting faculty, along with our Accounting Circle--made up of forty-six business leaders who support excellence in accounting education--designed the new degree. These leaders are our link to today's global business world.

We're on the master list
The Lundquist College of Business is a master of excellence. The college is named 51st in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings of 2000 undergraduate business programs and 60th for its MBA program. The College is fully accredited by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. And the accounting programs are accredited as well.

Our accounting graduates make headlines. In 2001, Faith Quimby scored the second highest on the CPA exam in Oregon; in 1999 Paul Tiger earned the highest score, and in 1997 Jami Miller scored second highest.

Our master plan
The Master of Accounting course content is an advanced extension of the core competencies identified in the AICPA Vision Project. These competencies include:

  • Communication and leadership skills
  • Strategic and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to focus on the customer, client, and the market
  • Ability to interpret financial and non-financial information
  • Ability to utilize and leverage technology in ways that add value to clients, customers, and employers.
The Lundquist College Master of Accounting program is especially designed for the new accounting graduate who wants to segue from the basic baccalaureate program directly into one that broadens and sharpens competencies and then leave fully-prepared to challenge the expectations of the 21st Century marketplace.

Remember, students must now have five years of education prior to sitting for the CPA exam in Oregon.

Application
Forty-five students with undergraduate degrees in accounting (or equivalent) will be accepted each year. Prospective students can apply online. See the M.B.A. program website for more information.
