Tom Osdoba has been named managing director of the Center for Sustainable Business Practices at the Lundquist College of Business at the University of Oregon. He will assume his new role on April 1.

"Growing a Green Economy: Perspectives from Law and Business"
On Friday April 3, 2009, students from the University of Oregon School of Law and the Lundquist College of Business will host this year’s Sustainable Business Symposium: “Growing a Green Economy: Perspectives from Law and Business.” This one-day event is designed to capture the dynamic energy around sustainability in the Pacific Northwest.

The event will be held at the newly-renovated White Stag building in downtown Portland and will feature a keynote speaker, lunch and four forward-looking panel discussions on topics such as climate and energy policy in the next presidential administration, green building, meeting Oregon's renewable portfolio standard and how businesses can convert risk into opportunity to meet the needs of our growing green economy. "What Makes a Potato Chip Green?", Tim Fallon
The Center for Sustainable Business Practices welcomes Tim Fallon, president of Kettle Foods North America, as our second Executive in Residence. Fallon joined Kettle Foods in 2005 and oversees all of the US operations. He will speak on Kettle Foods' sustainability efforts at 6pm on February 18th and then will visit classes the following day.

"Moving Beyond the Green Divide"
What is happening in the environmental movement today? What are the emerging roles and how do these interact with business? Hear the perspectives of Andy Hoffman, Holcim Professor of Sustainable Enterprise at the University of Michigan and Associate Director of the Frederick A. and Barbara M. Erb Institute for Global Sustainable Enterprise. Hoffman, author of the best selling book "Climate Change: What's Your Business Strategy (Memo to the CEO)", will sign copies of his book after the talk.
