Finance and Securities Analysis Center Experiential Learning

Guest Speakers

The Finance and Securities Analysis Center Speaker Series is an opportunity for students and faculty to hear practitioners from the world of finance and business discuss their firms and strategy in light of current events. The series brings a range of industry leaders from around the country in as guest lecturers, featuring an open question-and-answer format and open to the larger campus community. Guests are typically chief executives, founders, and presidents of their firms, and part of the broad network of industry support that the center enjoys. Talks focus upon the strategy underlying the firm's business model, and the impact of current events and conditions on the markets in which they operate.

The turmoil in the financial markets that started in 2008 and continued through 2010 was a tremendous opportunity to learn insights from the senior leaders themselves, while it was all happening. Highlights included insights from the inside of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, Barclay‘s Capital, Microsoft, TIAA-CREF, and investment firms Tygh Capital Management and Vista Capital Management.

Past workshops and guest speakers have also included representatives from:

Executives in Residence

Every year the center hosts leaders from companies who come to campus and visit with our faculty and students for a visit of two to three days. These executives in residence engage with our students and share their wisdom, experience and perspective. They work with faculty and students in a variety of settings-speaking to classes, holding public presentations, or even participating in lunch and dinner roundtables where students get to talk informally with them about their life, business, and experiences.
