Oregon MBA Industry & Alumnilogos_small.png

The Pacific Northwest is home to a variety of technology and investment firms. The Oregon MBA, represented by the Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship and the Finance and Securities Analysis Center, has long-standing associations with industry leaders Intel and Hewlett-Packard and small, dynamic firms, such as Datalogic, Jive Software, and Pacific Crest Securities. In an area famous for its outdoor activities and sports, the Warsaw Sports Marketing Center has close connections with Nike, adidas, Columbia Sportswear, Yakima, and other regional firms.

The Northwest is home to a host of corporations known for their commitment to sustainability and social responsibility: KEEN Footwear, Flexcar, Neil Kelly, food companies such as Kettle Foods and Organically Grown Company, Alternative energy companies, such as Vestas and Solar One, and Good Company, a local Eugene firm that certifies businesses for their environmentally and socially responsible practices. For students interested in working with a company sensitive to issues of sustainability, you’ll find more choices in the Pacific Northwest than anywhere in the United States. Oregon MBA Students connect with these businesses through the Center for Sustainable Business Practices.

But it doesn’t end there. Perched on the eastern edge of the Pacific Rim, Oregon straddles the dividing line between East and West. Students come here from all over North America and the world for the quality of education and quality of life. After two demanding and fulfilling years, our students fan out to the corners of the globe in order to pursue exciting job opportunities in New York and New Delhi, Beijing and Berlin, Tampa and Taipei.

Recruiting and Hiring our Students and Grads

Potential employers can make connections and establish working relationships with Oregon MBA students through the sponsorship of applied consulting projects, featuring your firm as a guest speaker, mentoring students through our Career Insights Network, and as an executive in residence. Through these outlets, our industry partners discover the next generation of business leaders. We strongly encourage our partners in industry to join us during the academic year in order to raise the visibility of their firms.

Alternative venues also exist for recruiting firms to engage our students, including hosting an information/recruiting session, taking part in an industry panel discussion series, participating in practice interviews and resume critique sessions, or hosting a group of eligible students on site. All of these have been highly effective in raising the profile of firms and making early connections with our students.

We also strongly encourage MBA students to seek internships to supplement academic study with practical experience in private, public, and nonprofit organizations. Assistance in landing the right internship is always available. Interns can be of great value to employers who have short-term project needs during the summer. About 85 percent of Oregon MBA students participate in internships. These typically involve business planning, market research, product development, financial analysis, software improvements, logistics, and event management.

To find out more about hiring our students and graduates for job and internships, please contact Lundquist College Career Services at 541-346-3301 or e-mail Bill Sherman, Assistant Director for Employer Relations, at wsherman@uoregon.edu. We'd be happy to discuss and help you meet your employment needs.
