New Venture Championship

Founded in 1991, the New Venture Championship (NVC) has become one of the top graduate investment competitions in the world. This is largely a result of its focus as a student learning experience and its guaranteed interaction with multiple panels of judges in a professional format. NVC is an unmatched experience for any graduate student team pursuing a start-up venture.

Presented by the University of Oregon’s Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship, NVC offers more than $70,000 in cash prizes and attracts schools from across the nation and around the world. Each team formally presents their venture plan to an esteemed panel of judges that includes venture capitalists, seasoned business executives, and experienced entrepreneurs. Presentations are followed by a hard-hitting question-and-answer session. In an afternoon private session, each team receives extensive feedback from the judges' panel, a key element of the New Venture Championship learning model.

At the end of day three, there will be only one New Venture Champion. Each finals round team will be pushed to perform at the highest level possible. The ultimate decision on the NVC Champion comes down to the final round judges.

Venture Quest

Each year the Lundquist Center for Entrepreneurship hosts two internal Venture Quest venture launch competitions for students of the Lundquist College of Business and the University of Oregon. The Graduate Venture Quest competition occurs yearly at the end of the fall term, and the Undergraduate Venture Quest competition takes place toward the end of the school year in late spring.

The competition format for Venture Quest requires each team to give a fifteen-minute presentation to a panel of judges made up of successful business professionals selected from the Northwest business community. A question-and-answer session follows each presentation in which teams must defend their concept and plan under live-fire conditions. Cash prizes are awarded to the top finishers.
