A Life of Giving
Loyalty, commitment, family--Joe and Hope Anstett and their fifty-two year relationship to each other and the Lundquist College of Business are testaments to the power of those words.
Joe '55 and Hope 55' were married the day after graduation, and by 1957, they had settled in Las Vegas. Hope worked as a secretary and in 1960 Joe, a CPA, started as an accountant with Silver State Disposal, Inc.--the company he would eventually lead in 1994 as president and CEO. Along their journey, Joe and Hope welcomed two children and six grandchildren, and made many friends in the business community and throughout the country.
For all their perseverance, success, and congeniality, they never lost sight of the importance of education and the role it played in their lives. To that end, they became longtime supporters of the college, donating to the Lillis Business Complex and accounting scholarship as well as contributing yearly as members of the Accounting Circle.
In 2010, Hope followed the couple's original generous gift with a $5 million donation in memory of her late husband. This was used to fund the renovation of the former Gilbert Hall, the east wing of the Lillis Complex. Newly re-named Anstett Hall, the completely modernized building re-opened for use in March 2011.
"Joe credited the Lundquist College of Business not only for giving him the skills to succeed, but also the confidence to lead and make a difference," explained Hope.
Through their dedication to their alma mater, the Anstetts have enabled generations of students to make a difference in their communities.
